YuYu Hakusho Vol 1 Yoshihiro Togashi Books

This is one of the best volumes in the whole series. It hasn't ramped up to the full excitement of the story yet, but Togashi is really in his element with each of the brief chapters and brings a lot of heart to the narrative, and a bit more than the anime allowed viewers to experience.

Overall I find the YYH manga disappointing at times due to its tendency to completely skip important battles and dialogue in exchange for some crummy narration. This is more obvious toward the end of the series and happens most of often to Hiei. That being said, the art is varying stunning and hilarious, and there are few better examples of character design (or ability design) I know of in manga. The early volumes in particular are very special and worth a look, even if you get burned out in the later ones where it seems like Togashi himself was burning out...

YuYu Hakusho Vol 1 Yoshihiro Togashi Books Reviews

i love it
It feels like the bulck of adventuring in the sensui arc takes place in this book, and for good reason. The team travels from the streets to a hospital, then to a rock concert, then to the street to fight sensui. That's like, 4 locations! Much more than a single stadium. Oh yeah, and the action is still good there.
Having read the whole series previously and now buying a set to own forever, you can probably guess my opinion. I love YuYu, and most of Togashi's work. While I wasn't thrilled the way this series ended, it's still absolutely worth reading. I'll be starting my third time through the whole series soon!

I will say, the cover doesn't do the rest of the book justice. This is one of those cases of "definitely don't judge a book by its cover." It's way better than the garish color scheme seen in the preview window.
YuYu Hakusho on is a dream come true. I love both the manga and the anime, and this is one of the best shounen manga series ever.
If you've seen the anime and want a more insightful glimpse into the world of the ghost detective, you will not be disappointed. It is different, yes, as most manga-to-anime ports have shown there must be change in order to fit 3 books into 30 minutes of awesome. It's not so different that it's like seeing into another dimension, or reading another anime entirely, however. Current fans of the anime will not be disappointed; and fans newly discovering it wanting to read the manga first.. you are in for a treat; don't be fooled by the title. It's not a detective show per-say; nothing like Case Closed. It's a fantasy scifi fighter anime with tons of character development and emotional insight from all character perspectives.
YuYu Hakusho translates to "Ghost Files," and that's what this manga is about. Stories of death and loss. But it isn't told in a depressing way at all, the stories are fun and uplifting. The main plot doesn't advance much in this volume, but the little sidestories are really high quality. Gotta love it
I believe, and my memory could be failing me right now, I had ordered one that was "Like New". The one I received has bent corners, discolored pages, the back cover is starting to curling and the this plastic printed on the cover is peeling. I'd give this distributor another shot, however if I order another "like new" item that is VERY CLEARLY not like new, I will be very upset. The damage isn't extensive, nor does it keep me from reading and enjoying the book, but it was pretty disappointing to order something "like new" and delivered in the same condition as books I've regularly opened and read for years.
This is one of the best volumes in the whole series. It hasn't ramped up to the full excitement of the story yet, but Togashi is really in his element with each of the brief chapters and brings a lot of heart to the narrative, and a bit more than the anime allowed viewers to experience.
